Trying

I am really going to try to get 2 layout's done this weekend. I am already working on one that has 2 pics, 1 of me and 1 of hubby.
I got the que sera sera paper pad on sale at Michael's last week so I'm using that. I also got some new ribbon and thread and fully intend on firing up the sewing machine tomorrow.
I want to start incorporating fabric into my layouts and art but I can't find fabric I like anywhere here. I may have to cruise up the interstate to Winchester and go to JoAnne's...dunno. Until then I will just make due with what I have.

oo00oo I forgot

Tomorrow Melissa and I are going to Richmond with my mother in law. She is taking us to lunch in celebration of Melissa's 16th bday, which was the 16th...

Andddd...we are going to Trader Joe's....CANNOT WAIT!!!! The last time I was at Trader Joe's was when I was home in California 2 years ago. Love me some Trader Joe's. Also with the time crunches of the work week I was not able to make corned beef and cabbage in celebration of St. Patrick's day so tonight me and hubby went shoppin and got all the scrumptiousest ingredients and I will be making it Sunday before he goes to work..

I steam my corned beef so it takes longer but omg...it is so good. oooo I will post a picture tomorrow of what I received in the mail today. I had totally forgotten about a Jim Shore auto deliver program I signed up for at QVC because I actually cancelled 2 of the 4 shipments. Cancelled the 2nd and 3rd so I completely forgot this was coming.
My daddy loved light houses and this was the main reason I wanted to sign up for this. Well, it came in the mail today and I have it on my end table next to my dad's picture. I know he would totally love it and the light will be on always.
I love you and miss you so terribly dad.

Been awhile

Oh I've been so busy...working on a few projects and also Melissa's 16th birthday. She got in a 4 wheeler accident on the 11th and I spent 7 hours at the ER with her and my sleep schedule got all messed up so I have been real tired too. She is fine thank goodness but been on restriction a week and not able to participate in her track training. It's been hectic.
Below is a door sign I made her for her birthday and also a name banner. She got new bedding for her bday in a lime green and zebra print that reverses to lime green/yellow/black leopard print. My eyes went buggie when we were getting her bed made...
Anyhow the door sign and banner will look awesome in her room and she loves them both.
I also have another layout to post but not yet. It's for a blue print challenge over at BadGirls but I cant reveal it until it is revealed on the website...sooooon...heheheeeee...

Sewing Machine

Weeeeeeeee...I got my sewing machine in the mail yesterday and got it hooked up tonight and working...that is an accomplishment since I haven't sewn since 7th grade...I am so excited to be able to sew on my layout's and mixed media projects now. This just takes it to a whole other level for me.
My son has already put in an order for me to sew his patches on his vest and his best friend too...LOL.

I got it from overstock.com for an amazing price of less than 65.00 and that was with shipping and everything. I love overstock.com.

I also got my March kit from SFTIO and I am going to try to rip into that maybe tomorrow night after work and get some sewing on a layout. The kit is called Nostalgia. It's a great kit. I have way too much product. I have kits from Bad Girls, this is my 4th kit from SFTIO and then just everything else I have. I am going on a kit hiatus and I have got to get some fabulous stuff done with the things I have.
I really want to incorporate sewing into as much as I can now that I have my machine.
I love so many of the layout's I see online with zig zag and such on it. So very cool.
Ill post stuffs as soon as I get things done.

Sweet 16

My little girl is going to be 16 on the 16th of this month. I cannot believe it!!!!
I was inspired by one of the create each day projects over at www.badgirlskits.com to create a name sign for her for her bday. I am working on it a little each night and will have it done this weekend.
I am also going to make a super cool banner to hang up as well.
Go check out all the awesome elite design team projects over there and get some inspiration of your own. Guest Design Team Challenge from Bad Girls Project 52

Cannot believe I haven't gotten around to posting this yet.
The project that I was a guest designer for over at bad girls was Art Money.
I loved this and it was something I had never done before so yeah, very cool stuff.
check out the 7 requirements over at www.artmoney.org
Also be sure and check out Project 52 and all the other awesome challenges over at http://www.badgirlskits.com/
Are you BAD enough???

Along with the 7 requirements I also had to incorporate a piece of architecture and use some kind of tape. Masking tape, duct tape, electrical tape etc.

I love the Eiffel Tower and it's my dream someday to go and see it in person.
  •  I cut a piece of heavy card stock to the required size. Sponge brushed modge podge onto the card stock and placed a piece of muslin on top of that. When it dried I trimmed the muslin with pinking sheers.
  • I taped the sticky sides of the masking tape together to make a piece of paper. I then watered down my Gesso a little and applied it to the masking tape paper.
  • I printed out the picture of the Eiffel Tower onto the masking tape paper.
  • I made one layer of the lace border from the unused part of the of the Eiffel Tower print and a border punch.
  • The other lace border was made using another piece of masking tape paper painted with Gesso, and a different border punch.
  • I layered torn strips from an antique book page for the right border
  • I cut 3 different sized heart shapes from fabric and muslin, and also a rose cluster, that were used in the corners. The Paris button was cut from a piece of patterned paper.
  • I printed the serial number, country and year, my name and the www.artmoney.org address onto muslin.
  • Once I had created all of the elements needed, I started layering until I achieved the look I wanted.
I really hope you go check out the website and try to make some art money of your own.
