Wood Bead Art Dolls

So...been very excited to be signed up to take Laura Robberts Loverlee's wood bead art doll class at http://www.paperwhimsy.com.

The class started Saturday and I am off work today and was able to get started...I got as far as I can on the bodies for now. I am waiting for the omni gel to dry for the image transfers and will hopefully get to those tomorrow evening after work...

My awesome husband bought me a dremel on Sunday so I can use it as a drill, but we didn't get a cottel so I can't use the bits today...I will pick one up tomorrow. In the meantime, I decided to play with some beads and create a design for the blue dollies tiara. I need to get some more beads...hehe...
Can't wait to get everything put together and finish my first doll...the possibilities are endless and my mind is going crazy with ideas...

You can still sign up for the class, through March 2...it is awesome... http://www.paperwhimsy.com/classes/loverlees/index.html

Beautiful Heart

I got called off work today because it's so slow from the weather...A day for nothing but art...I have been wanting this day...I started this journal page last week and new the direction I wanted to go so I have been working on it whenever I had time, and was finally able to get all the elements together and finish the page...I really love how it turned out.

I used a lot of modeling paste, inks, sprays...for the heart doors I applied modeling paste to plain card stock...I found a rusted metal background and printed that out onto the modeling paste card stock after it dried...then used my verdigris mist and a stencil to give it another dimension. Then ink and brads...I bought a Paper Studio brick embossing folder last week and used that along with ink, mists, and modeling paste...ripped and tore it until I had the shapes to piece together for the background.
I love how it turned out.

Art Joural Time

Finally made some time today to finish this page in my art journal.

Ive been doing a little here and there and just really wanted to add some dimension to it today and finish it up. So I added some molding paste then more layers of colors and the words just came naturally after I was done with the color. And of course there are butterflies. <3 br="">
Have a beautiful colorful day.

Art Time

Well I got a new job, and I started right at the first of the year.
I have a different schedule each week and sometimes don't get 2 days in a row off so I am having to really find the time for some art.
The job is very physical so I am tiiired...BUT...I found some time over the weekend and got this little gem done.
I have 2 more fairies cut out to make more and I will have time tomorrow afternoon to work on them.
Isn't she cute? I love how it turned out and can't wait to get the others done.

My word for 2013....FLY

So after a very rough couple of years in the job department here in Arkansas, I have chosen FLY as my word this year.
I REFUSE to be held back by other people and their lies and insecurities anymore. I am going to do whatever it takes to make this year successful in every way possible.

First in the job department. I have been out of work for 15 of the 24 months we have been in Arkansas, never in my life have I had this problem and I will be basically starting my career over especially since my background is in banking and real estate. It is doing be absolutely NO good here...I thought I had made an excellent career move working for a crafting base company here in Arkansas, but unfortunately they only used me until they were done, then they fired me the Saturday before CHA in July after I had spent all week making last minute samples for their CHA booths. Crushed, devastated, I was in a major slump.

So moving on...here I come to fly into the year 2013. I will be starting a new job in the next week. I have set 2 goals for myself so far. I want to get published in Somerset Magazine, and I want to get on a design team. I love mixed media and I have so many things going on in my mind that I want to create. I want to get this new job started so I will have the money to get the supplies and embellishments I want and need to bring my creations to where I want them to be. I am also recycling in so much of my work. I love working with cardboard and with all of the junk mail and food boxes, omgosh the possibilities are endless. I can't wait. I know what company I want to design for, I just have no idea when they are going to be picking a new design team. Maybe I can get on as a guest designer, first I have got to get my hands on their products...I'm working on that.

So this is what I made, and it will be hanging in my studio where I can see it all the time.
This is the background. Lots of texture, a gorgeous Glitz Design transparency down there in the bottom left, and Glitz Design rub ons. I used drywall tape and texture paste and LOVE how that all came out. Used some Tattered Angles sprays for the color. Some Verdegris, Sun Sisters, and Poppy. The white is Gesso. The pink is also TA but I don't remember what color. hehe
The note is written on Glitz Design what nots, the FLY tag and transparency frame are again Glitz Design (umm I love Glitz the most) the leaves are 7 Gyspsies sprayed with green Tattered Angels. I made the flowers out of burlap and canvas. Used Gesso to mold them then sprayed them with more Tattered Angels. The mustard color flower is by Prima and the center of that one is from some trim I picked up at Walmart. The Soar tag is Tim Holtz. I love how it turned out.
This is the back...LOL...see, I am recycling. It held up really well to all the Gesso in the original background because after it was almost dry I sprayed the very top with the pink TA then misted heavily with water...Thank goodness for my heat gun, I don't know what I would do without it because I am not patient enough to wait!!!
Have a beautiful day.
Thanks for taking a look.

Goodbye 2012

Wow...really am so glad this year is over...There are definitely some things to look back on in celebration, but unfortunately more bad than good.
I refuse to dwell...it stays where it is, in the past.

2013 please be good to me, to my family and those I love and care about.

Happy and safe New Year to everyone.

I am seriously thinking about having various cards from my different stacks printed up into note cards. I have an Etsy shop set up but nothing in it...

I added the text to this at picmonkey.com a site that I absolutely LOVE...definitely check it out, it's free and amazing.

Im going to have a piece of lemon meringue pie and go to bed.

Quote stack progress

I made some progress on my butterfly quote stack today. Also made pies for Christmas and got the rest of the presents wrapped...Merry Christmas

Butterflies everywhere

I'm working on another inspiration quote stack. My goal is to achieve a patina look on the cards and then put a butterfly on each one with one word of inspiration instead of a quote...so I guess you could call it an inspiration word stack...LOL I don't know.

I have some color on the cards and the butterflies all cut but I have to get to that patina look. So off I go to see what I can make of them...in the meantime here are the butterflies I cut out today...I actually cut out more than this but they were way more colorful and I decided not to use them for this stack.

Merry Christmas.

Thanks for checking things out.

With All My Heart

I have been recycling all kinds of cardboard lately and I decided to use cereal box tops this time. I had initially planned to use them for tabs for a journal but went a different direction. Background...Lots colors and the white is all texture paste. I did the heart with my water soluble oil pastels and just used my fingers to blend, then tore the edges for the look I wanted. I love how it turned out. Hope you do too. I am going to mount the piece on a black canvas so it really pops. Going to pick up a canvas tomorrow.

Prayer Flag for Newton, CT

After what happened in Newton, CT last Friday, so many people are coming together to do anything we can for this entire community. I personally cannot even begin to imagine the scope of what this community is going through, so I wanted to be able to participate and do something.

On Facebook so many people are doing different projects to send art to the community to help in healing and I chose to make a prayer flag to send. Below is a picture of what I am sending. If you would like to participate please click on this link https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-hope-flag-project/498268640213821 .

It's been a little bit crazy and I got a little distracted but found some time over the past week to work on a little piece of art. I am actually going to make this into a banner since it is 3 separate pieces but in the meantime I am trying to find somewhere to have this printed out in 4 x 8 so I can send it out for our Christmas card this year.
I love how it turned out, its funky and colorful and tattered and layered and just a lot of fun.

Ok...this is what has been keeping me busy...The 2 white journals each have 2 signatures of 90lb Canson Mixed Media paper...the other ones are done Remains of the Day style with all pages sewn and lots of ephemera and pockets and places to tape, staple, glue and store all of those special things you have been saving and don't know where to put...also tons of room for journaling...

I have also made a total of 4 inspiration stacks...no more pics tonight though...Ill post those soon...here are my journals...they will all be for sale soon.

A few little finishing touches, and the signatures sewn for the Burlap Floral Journal and these will all be for sale...

Thanks for stopping by...
Have a FaBuLoUs evening!!!

Wow...it's been a month since I posted...it has just been CrAzY ToWn!!!! Hopefully things will calm down...I have actually also been very busy working on some journals...I have 4 handmade journals ready to be sold and one more that I am hoping to have completed before the end of the weekend...

Hubby is going to get a wesbsite set up for me so I can start selling some of my things (hopefully)...he has been very busy with his recent promotion at work but I know as soon as he has time he will get it done for me...

I received a call this morning from a company that I interviewed with just a few weeks ago and they wanted me to come back in. They initially had decided not to fill the position the first time I interviewed but due to a high amount of work they have changed their minds...I am hoping hoping to get a call early next week with an offer of employment...It would be AWESOME!!!!...

I will try to get some pictures posted tomorrow of the journals I have been working on...I totally love them and I really hope everyone else does too...they are made with love and in hopes of inspiring other people to make art...whether it be just gluing, taping or stapling things into already embellished pages, or buying a blank one and filling it with their own art... <3 p="p">
Have a fantastic night.
