I tore up some of my gelli prints so I could sew them back together and make something FaBuLoUs...so far I have gotten them sewn. Im thinking about using it for a journal cover.

I will definitely be sewing some more scraps together for other projects.

I'll post more pics as this project moves forward.

I've been playing with my Gelli Plate again today. Got some awesome prints done this morning. Did some housework then decided to have a go at something more before getting ready for work.

I have had some gesso'd up playing cards laying around and decided to lay them out on the gelli plate and just keep layering. I LOVE how these came out. 9 cards in less than 10 minutes. I was also able to pull 4 full background prints from the paint after each layer on the cards.

Here are the cards and the new backgrounds.

Thanks for stopping by...Hope you have a FaBuLoUs Day!!!

Wow...it has been a lot longer than I thought since I posted on my blog.
I have been working part time, so I have still had time for lots of art.

My broken leg is finally healed and I got a full release from my doc to go back to work, hence the part time job. I have made some amazing new friends and I love my job. Still hoping for a full time position on the horizon.

My awesome amazing husband ok'd me to get a gelli plate and I am officially addicted.

I am also taking part in a swap hosted by Denise Phillips and Nancy Baumiller. A triptych swap and man have I ever had fun and I cant wait to make more. So here is what I have been up to.

I used graphics from Nancy Baumiller at deviantscrap.com. Amazing stuff...I can't wait to get mail from Denise with 2 surprise triptych's. Definitely check out Denise's blog because I think she may be having another swap in the near future. birdnutsmixedmedia.blogspot.com

Below are some of the gelli prints I have been making. I have lots of ideas for what I want to do with them. I actually used a couple of them for the backgrounds on the above triptych atc's...I love LOVE my gelli plate.

 transformed this print here....

Into this finished piece. I love to doodle. I added the number stamps and cut the orange heart out of another gelli print.
I absolutely love how it came out and can't wait to transform my other prints.

Im excited every time I work with my gelli plate. It's awesome to get something different every time. I am going to try the packing tape print and I also am going to be printing on some fabric.

Recent Art

Have found some time to do some art...it's hard because I have to gather up what I need so I dont have to keep getting up but I got it some what under control....
There won't be anymore for awhile because most of my studio is packed because we can start moving stuff over to our new house in 2 weeks...
I'm packing the best I can with a broken leg, and my daughter moved back home so she is helping. Looking forward to the new house as it is a ranch style house with no stairs and a huge 2 car garage and its just 2 doors down from our friends...GOOD TIMES!!!!

So I got 2 journal pages done, and another Loverlee doll from Laura Robbert's class over at paperwhimsy.com

The first journal page is mocking myself for my broken leg...hey if ya can't laugh at yourself...yanno?

Another journal page I did about my heart...I love LOVE using my water soluble oil pastels...no brushes used on this one...just blended with my fingers...love how it turned out

And here is Sophie...my second loverlee doll...My girlfriend from high school named her...I love how she turned out.

Life throws a major curve ball

So yah...2 weeks ago tonight was on my way downstairs to bed...over stepped and fell and landed on the ceramic tile...end result...a broken fibula and surgery a week later...they had to put in a plate and 5 screws...I have a lengthy recovery ahead, but hopefully not too lengthy...I started a new job Jan 7th and it is very physical and I have to have 100% sign off from my doctor in 6 weeks or I cant go back...
On top of all of this we have to move out of our house by the end of April...lol...

Luckily I have the most amazing husband, and he is taking the best care of me that I could ever imagine. He is able to work from home so we will be able to get a lot accomplished for the move.

I also made a new friend here in town...One of my husbands co workers and his wife, whom I had never met, came over the Sunday before my surgery and brought us a wonderful home made lasagne dinner...Paula and I hit if off instantly and I am so happy to have found a new friend...they also told us about a house for rent 2 doors down from them and it ended up being exactly what we are looking for. We signed the lease papers and gave the deposit today so the house is ours...and thank goodness its a ranch style home so no more stairs...

So even with the curve ball life decided to throw me, there has been so much more positive than negative...I received flowers tonight from my sweet friend Denise Phillips and it just took the positive to a whole other level...Denise is such a funny, amazing, inspiring and beautiful person, and I am so thankful that she is a friend.

Oh so in all this craziness I actually managed to complete my first doll in Laura Robberts loverlee class....and I am going to finish another tomorrow.
This is Aldora and I LOVE how she came out...I will be making many more and listing them in my etsy shop soon...I need an income...!!!!
Her name is Aldora and it means "Winged Gift"

Wood Bead Art Dolls

So...been very excited to be signed up to take Laura Robberts Loverlee's wood bead art doll class at http://www.paperwhimsy.com.

The class started Saturday and I am off work today and was able to get started...I got as far as I can on the bodies for now. I am waiting for the omni gel to dry for the image transfers and will hopefully get to those tomorrow evening after work...

My awesome husband bought me a dremel on Sunday so I can use it as a drill, but we didn't get a cottel so I can't use the bits today...I will pick one up tomorrow. In the meantime, I decided to play with some beads and create a design for the blue dollies tiara. I need to get some more beads...hehe...
Can't wait to get everything put together and finish my first doll...the possibilities are endless and my mind is going crazy with ideas...

You can still sign up for the class, through March 2...it is awesome... http://www.paperwhimsy.com/classes/loverlees/index.html

Beautiful Heart

I got called off work today because it's so slow from the weather...A day for nothing but art...I have been wanting this day...I started this journal page last week and new the direction I wanted to go so I have been working on it whenever I had time, and was finally able to get all the elements together and finish the page...I really love how it turned out.

I used a lot of modeling paste, inks, sprays...for the heart doors I applied modeling paste to plain card stock...I found a rusted metal background and printed that out onto the modeling paste card stock after it dried...then used my verdigris mist and a stencil to give it another dimension. Then ink and brads...I bought a Paper Studio brick embossing folder last week and used that along with ink, mists, and modeling paste...ripped and tore it until I had the shapes to piece together for the background.
I love how it turned out.

Art Joural Time

Finally made some time today to finish this page in my art journal.

Ive been doing a little here and there and just really wanted to add some dimension to it today and finish it up. So I added some molding paste then more layers of colors and the words just came naturally after I was done with the color. And of course there are butterflies. <3 br="">

My word for 2013....FLY

So after a very rough couple of years in the job department here in Arkansas, I have chosen FLY as my word this year.
I REFUSE to be held back by other people and their lies and insecurities anymore. I am going to do whatever it takes to make this year successful in every way possible.

First in the job department. I have been out of work for 15 of the 24 months we have been in Arkansas, never in my life have I had this problem and I will be basically starting my career over especially since my background is in banking and real estate. It is doing be absolutely NO good here...I thought I had made an excellent career move working for a crafting base company here in Arkansas, but unfortunately they only used me until they were done, then they fired me the Saturday before CHA in July after I had spent all week making last minute samples for their CHA booths. Crushed, devastated, I was in a major slump.

So moving on...here I come to fly into the year 2013. I will be starting a new job in the next week. I have set 2 goals for myself so far. I want to get published in Somerset Magazine, and I want to get on a design team. I love mixed media and I have so many things going on in my mind that I want to create. I want to get this new job started so I will have the money to get the supplies and embellishments I want and need to bring my creations to where I want them to be. I am also recycling in so much of my work. I love working with cardboard and with all of the junk mail and food boxes, omgosh the possibilities are endless. I can't wait. I know what company I want to design for, I just have no idea when they are going to be picking a new design team. Maybe I can get on as a guest designer, first I have got to get my hands on their products...I'm working on that.

So this is what I made, and it will be hanging in my studio where I can see it all the time.
This is the background. Lots of texture, a gorgeous Glitz Design transparency down there in the bottom left, and Glitz Design rub ons. I used drywall tape and texture paste and LOVE how that all came out. Used some Tattered Angles sprays for the color. Some Verdegris, Sun Sisters, and Poppy. The white is Gesso. The pink is also TA but I don't remember what color. hehe
The note is written on Glitz Design what nots, the FLY tag and transparency frame are again Glitz Design (umm I love Glitz the most) the leaves are 7 Gyspsies sprayed with green Tattered Angels. I made the flowers out of burlap and canvas. Used Gesso to mold them then sprayed them with more Tattered Angels. The mustard color flower is by Prima and the center of that one is from some trim I picked up at Walmart. The Soar tag is Tim Holtz. I love how it turned out.
This is the back...LOL...see, I am recycling. It held up really well to all the Gesso in the original background because after it was almost dry I sprayed the very top with the pink TA then misted heavily with water...Thank goodness for my heat gun, I don't know what I would do without it because I am not patient enough to wait!!!
Have a beautiful day.
Thanks for taking a look.
