Welcome To Our Nest

Hello beautiful people....

I am here today to share with you a spring home decor project I made using the amazing Art Anthology products...

The base for my project is an old ceiling tile I picked up while antique shopping a couple of weeks ago...they actually had a few so I am going back to get the rest of them this upcoming weekend...

Here is a shot of the completed project...

I used a chunky 8x8 canvas for the center piece of this project...got it home and cut the middle of it out then turned it around and covered it randomly with heavy modeling paste...

I wasnt sure how the Colorations Sprays were going to take to the metal tile surface so I started spraying...I love how it beaded up and ran...I sprayed with Waimea Bay and laid it flat to dry...I wanted that beaded up look and effect... the other Colorations Sprays I added during this part of my process are Juicy, Salted Caramel, Raider, and grass...

Now to get some more texture and add color to the chunky 8x8. What you see in the picture below is the velvet dimensional paint in Kona, and also the Stone Effects in Bone...I used a pallet knife with the Kona and a piece of toile to get the texture in the brown color you see on the top and sides of the frame. I just used the toile netting like a stencil...

I randomly spread the Bone around the top and sides of the frame as well...It's a great gritty texture and added some really cool dimension.

While that dried I started working on the little birdie...I sprayed Waimea Bay and Cinnamon Toast onto my mat and used a paint brush to apply the colors to the birdie...I just kept adding more layers of colors until I achieved the look I was going for...I then sprayed her chest and the top of her head with Juicy and I used Sorbet Dimensional Paint in Vegas Gold for her little beak...

I applied color to the 8x8 chunky frame really in no particular order...I was just going for a really natural unplanned look...the colors I used are...Grass, Waimea Bay, Juicy, Glorious, Salted Caramel, and Raider. When the colors started blending together they just got so rich and I love how it turned out.

For the Welcome banner I used canvas pre cut banner flags and sprayed them with Salted Caramel
And Waimea Bay...

These pieces that I tucked between the canvas and the tile were done using a stencil...I did it reverse though. I sprayed the stencil first, then put it misted side down onto cardstock and let it absorb into the paper. I then tore around the edges and added some Waimea Bay and Salted Caramel.

The gears I used in this project are from both The Paper Studio and Tim Holtz. I even made my birdie a little steampunk crown out of some canvas and a gear...

I picked up this cool vintage looking drawer pull at Hobby Lobby and had to use it on this piece. I misted it just a bit with the Waimea Bay to enhance the patina, then added some chain and keys.

This is what the tile looked like before I adhered the 8x8 chunky canvas to it...

Heres a few detail pictures of the chunky canvas...

This is going to hang in my entry way...love how it turned out...Spring is definitely here...

Hope this project inspires you to go make something springy for your home using Art Anthology products to bring a whole new level of color and dimension to your creative world.

Thanks for stopping by today.
