A World Altered

Hi Everyone,

Monica here with my project for this week.

This is a 6x6 chunky canvas. I made it at the request of my husband to have some of my art to hang in the house. Most of my art is very bright and colorful and funky, and it all hangs in my studio. My decor is shabby industrial so I went that route with this project. I've also wanted to start creating some steam punk inspired art so this fit the bill perfectly.

Part of what drives my creativity, and provides me inspiration is my husband, our story, the love we have for each other. When he asked me to make something it just all came to me so naturally. His love, support and belief in me, truly have altered my world.

His Love Altered Her World...

For this project I used the Layered Masonite Steampunk Heart set from retrocafeart.com. The butterfly wings are from a stencil. I traced the stencil onto cardstock, then cut it out with my exacto knife. I used the copper paint from ten second studio verday paint system to obtain the verdegri look on the steampunk heart and the butterfly wings. .

The gears and crown are Tim Holtz.
I used a french script stamp on the background and I made the distress rings using and old cardboard tube.

I stamped the letters onto printer paper then cut them out and inked up the edges. I also inked the edges and outside of the canvas with black ink.

I used red and pink paints on the heart then just rubbed on distress ink with my fingers to give it a distressed look.

I am all about color so this piece, color wise, was a challenge for me, so the pop of color the heart adds peaking through the gears is cool.

I am going to do 3 more 6x6 canvases to hang with this piece so I will be challenged to find a way to add those pops of color, but with Art Anthology products at the ready this will not be a problem at all  and I will share them as I create them.

I love being able to tell a story with art. I also like that one can do this on any surface. The Art Anthology products work awesome on any surface. It doesn't have to be a canvas or paper. It can be altering the cover of an old day planner into a journal, or recovering the surface of something you have picked up at the thrift store. Alter pieces of fabric and include them in your project, chipboard, wood, metal. The possibilities are endless. You truly can make anything your own, or tell your story with anything that inspires you.

So get out your Art Anthology paints and mists and try combining some different surfaces into your art.

Have a FaBuLoUs Day!!!
